Last week we revealed the exciting collaboration between LCF MA students and New Look, which will result in a shoe collection early next year. We’ve got a few more student designs to show you what might be to come!

Chan Jung Kim’s (top), portfolio work includes these feathered beauties, which are delicate as they are tough, and Kim Kwang’s sculptural pieces are showstoppers to say the least. Stay tuned to find out who makes the final cut, we can’t wait to see the prototype shoes!

New Look are teaming up with world-class institution London College of Fashion on an exciting footwear project which will see student-designed shoes available in our stores. We’re already big fans of this year’s BA fashion graduates, but this time round it’s all about the shoes.

A select panel of judges made up of fashion industry names including Giles Deacon, New Look Design Director Barbara Horspool, and footwear designer Jonathan Kelsey looked through the students’ designs. They picked finalists from the MA degree course, and the winning designs will be put into production next Spring. We can’t wait to get our greedy mitts on them!

LCF graduates include Jimmy Choo and LK Bennett so we’re really quite excited to see what this year’s students produce, below are some of the finalists’ designs to give you a flavour of what to expect, stay tuned to see who makes the final cut.

We love Elle, and it seems like the feeling’s mutual because on their fab ‘What Elle Wears To Work‘ feature, Elle UK’s website assistant Alice is snapped sporting a pair of our clogs! We love how she’s teamed them with a simple tube skirt and on-trend khaki shirt, tapping into the military look perfectly.

Our new TV ad debuted this morning announcing 20% off dresses! We were so excited we all bundled into our press room to catch the first screening and even got to watch a little Deal or No Deal beforehand, bonus! If you fancy grabbing yourself a bargain just shop dresses and grab yourself a fab summer frock.

At New Look HQ lines are already being drawn between the football lovers and haters. With this in mind we came up with our ‘Fabio or Fabulous‘ competition, are you football crazy like Fabio Capello, or a firm fashionista like Anna Wintour?

Over the summer we’ll be challenging you to take pictures of yourself with your mask of choice, with prizes up for grabs for the best entries. Gok Wan and Jameela Jamil have already got in on the act, and it looks like the people in the office are taking sides!

Will you choose the Fabio mask or the Fabulous mask? All you have to do to be in with a chance to win is print out and cut your mask of choice from the links and upload a picture of yourself to our Facebook Event page.

Good luck!

You’ve seen the all the pictures from our press day, now take a look behind the scenes at our lookbook shoot! Fashion editors and stylists use the lookbook to refresh their memories about the Autumn collections and to help them decide which clothes they want to use for fashion shoots.

It’s all hands on deck as a team of make up artists, hair stylists, and interns help to prep the clothes and models before the shoot. Over a few long days the photographer shoots the collection, it can be as many as twenty different looks in one day! The shots are approved by the press team and creative director on computer screens as they’re taken and before you know it, it’s printed off and ready to hand to press.

Take a look at the pictures from the Press Day.

Well it was a busy week for us at New Look HQ as we opened our doors to press and bloggers for our Autumn Winter Press Day. It might seem a bit odd to be looking at winter clothes in May, but the stylists and fashion editors are already planning their photoshoots and magazine editorials.

Some of our favourite bloggers turned up as well as some new faces, see after the jump for a list of all our coverage so far, and if you attended don’t forget to leave a comment and let us know! Kate Wilson, better known as Little Doodles came along and charmed the pants off us, and was the first person to be interviewed in our videobooth (more on this soon!) She also kindly sent us some of her illustrations from the press day, we feel so honoured! For more of her fab illustrations check out her website.

Are you a budding textile designer? Are you studying art or textiles at college or  a young textile designer looking for a break? Do you fancy the chance to see your design on a New Look dress, worn on the catwalk at the Clothes Show and win a £1000?

New Look have collaborated with Cosmopolitan magazine and the British Fashion Council to create a prestigious award and we want to hear from all aspiring textiles designers, right now.

All you have to do is download the brief here.  Design your print and transfer it to the template on the brief, and let the judging panel decide the winner.

We have lots of textile designer friends and are fascinated by where they find their inspiration.
Postcards from Battersea, is one of our favourite inspirational blogs by textile desinger Sarah. She is a trend s researcher for fashion forecasting company WGSN, and shares her ideas and inspirational images of  colours, textiles and patterns, from her trips abroad and around London.

Take a look, it might inspire you to get designing.

So I was the lucky winner of New Look’s tickets to The Look Show, one of the first fashion shows to feature high street clothing, and perfectly in time to kick off London Fashion Week.

The event was held at the wonderful Saatchi Gallery in fancy Chelsea. Our taxi driver was hilarious, and was telling us all sorts of funny stories about the famous people he’s driven around the area – and he loved our Geordie accents, so took a pound off the total fare. Nice!

When we got there, there was a fairly sized queue forming to get in – all featuring gorgeous girls of all shapes, sizes and age, so we knew we were in the right place. There was even a red carpet rolled out, which felt very glamourous!

Inside, champagne was being served which was fizzy and delicious. All the major high street stores were showcasing their new range – one of the best features being they were the clothes currently featuring this season. So I could literally have seen a dress at the show, then went to New Look around the corner and got it the very same day – a big first for fashion shows.

champagne...

Me and my friend Georgina mingled around and did some celebrity spotting – we spied Liz McClaron (from Atomic Kitten), Keisha Buchanan (from Sugababes), The Saturdays and Beverley Knight (who I also saw at an event the next day – she was so sweet and lovely, and wanted to buy everything for her next television appearance, which was funny!). It completely wasn’t what I expected a fashion show to be like – with snobby size 0 girls milling around looking down their nose at you. Everyone was very pleasant, and there was a buzz of excitement.

After an hour or so (and a few too many glasses of fizzy pop!) we took our seats. Thank you New Look for securing us such an awesome view – front row at the start of the runway! The models were all provided by Elite Models in London and were all stunningly beautiful – although the show was kicked off by supermodel Erin O’Connor!

I adored New Look’s collection – lots of nautical navy and whites, polka dots (including the shirt I submitted in my ‘outfit’ for the competition entry!), ditsy cardigans and were the only store to showcase swimwear, which again tied into the nautical/holiday theme. It feels like New Look is kicking off summer early this year, which is much needed with all this drizzly rain, lately!

The show was also given an extra bit of sparkle when Pixie Lott came out in a cute black dress and performed an acoustic version of her hit single ‘Cry Me Out’. She was amazing, and got a great reception from us – if I do say so, myself.

After the show, pink champagne was served and we got our goodie bags which were designed by Olivia Rubin. Inside were accessories from all the retailers, vouchers and chocolates – yum yum! The modelling agency even gave out adorable pink glittery cupcakes!

I saw one of the models after the show, and she was really sweet and friendly – even nabbing a goodie bag for herself, saying she hardly got them to keep herself in her line of work. I told her she was brilliant, thought she could do with a sandwich or two and she giggled. Aww!

Oh! And to top it all off – I ended up winning second prize in the raffle. First prize was the ‘Alexa’ Mulberry bag, but second prize was a massive Tony & Guy goodie bag – including a hairdryer, straighteners, products and £100 worth of haircuts. I was so happy, as I never win anything usually!

So thank you New Look for chance to go to such a wonderful event!
