For two weeks a year all eyes are on London, as the Fashion Show train comes into town and designers get ready to show off their collections.
It’s not just the catwalks though, the front row is as much of an event as the show itself! Our pick of the front row from this season is below, we love Diana Vickers simple but stylish cardigan dress, glammed up with heels. The next look is classic Alexa, check out her diminutive bag, a microtrend for Spring.
Ex-Sugababe Keisha Buchanan rocks a gorgeous mix of corals and nude tones, the red lippie really finishes it off. Lastly Nicola Roberts does A-list chic in a bodycon dress, heels and sunnies. Love her new ombré hair!
Giles Deacon’s return to London marked an exciting moment on the fashion calendar, and we were there to see exactly what was behind his first London collection in two years. Combining the high octane glam of Studio 54, with a carefree dash of ’90s era ravers it was a pure party from start to finish. We spent the day chatting to the models and celebs, and checking out the hard graft behind the spectacular hair & makeup, so take a look!
You may not have heard of David Koma, but unless you have been marooned on a desert island for the last 6 months you will definitely recognize his designs. Worn first by Cheryl Cole on the X Factor and then by Beyonce at the MTV EMA Awards, the 24 year old designer from Georgia became a fashion star almost over night.
Backstage, before his his first ever show at London Fashion Week, Koma confessed: “It has been hard. But I’m just trying to do my best and concentrate on my work.”
The collection for Autumn/Winter 2010, featured sculptural tailoring, body con dresses and amazing leather details, zips made into swirly sculptural shapes and graphic patterns.
We definitely haven’t heard the last of this designer.
This week we have been keeping a close eye on what has been happening at New York fashion week and thought we would share a few of our favourite collections with you. The Fall (that’s Autumn/Winter) 2010 collections will not hit the shops until later in the year, but as it is still cold outside, we have been picking up some great new ideas on how to style our outfits for this winter.
One of our favourite NY designers is always Marc Jacobs and his Marc by Marc Jacobs (a slightly younger and marginally cheaper collection than his main line) ticked all our boxes this season. We loved the bright tartan mixed with the military khaki. We are really feeling for bright red and think khaki is the new black (did we just actually say that!!?)
Marc also showed a small collection of black and cream which looked fresh and new. We heart the vintage lace and retro styling.
The TSE collection managed to combine Boho chic with stylish simplicity. We are loving the check jodphur/hareem pants and adore those bobble hats.
The Rodarte collection was definitely up their as one of our all time favourites, mixing print and pattern and tonal colour for an eclectic romantic look.
Check out next weeks posts next weeks, for our top tips from London Fashion Week and if you are are as obsessed as us with fashion, you can also watch some on the shows live online for the very first time.
