Healthy breakfasts bring us one step closer to keeping our New Year’s resolutions, and Jennifer Causey’s Simply Breakfast blog is getting us inspired! The pictures of her serene breakfasts seem to be a million miles away from our hectic mornings (brushing your teeth while packing your bag anyone?) but they’re helping us to try and take a little more time over the first meal of the day.

We’ve been asking everyone around the office what they’re into . Here’s some of our fave breakfast recipes:

Virtuous Porridge
The agave nectar can easily be picked up from your local health food store, and its low GI means it’s miles healthier than honey or sugar.

-Soak the oats in milk or soya milk overnight, or just 15mins will do, and heat gently.
-Add agave nectar, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds to the porridge, stir and enjoy!

Poached Eggs
Wholewheat toast with poached eggs is really healthy, and will fill you up till lunch. Add slices of avocado, rocket leaves and tomato for a tasty brunch.

-Boil a pan of water and when it’s bubbling, turn the heat off for a second, then gently crack your eggs into the pan.
-The eggs should be done in the time it takes to toast some bread, easy!

Some of our not so healthy suggestions included hot chocolate with coco pops scattered on top, maybe one for the weekend!

Hotspots for a good brekkie include the poached eggs at Bill’s cafe in Brighton, scrambled eggs with halloumi from the Modern Pantry in Farringdon, and the eggs en cocotte at Café Gandolfi in Glasgow. What’s your favourite breakfast? Leave a comment and let us know!

To celebrate Australia day we asked Trend Scout Susie Draffan and Trend Designer Hayley Stanton to pick their fave Aussie style blogs. Here is what they came up with, enjoy!

Zanita Whittington (pictured below) is a model and photographer, and Zanita is a mix of her own shoots and test shots for models as well as magazine editorials. She also shares with us her personal style in her outfit pics, which showcase her cool Aussie style. We love!

Inspiration abounds at Oracle Fox. Written by visual artist Amanda Shadforth and featuring a mix of stylish images and product picks, it’s a veritable fashion pick-me-up!

4th and Bleeker is named after an area in New York’s Greenwich VIllage and is written by Alex (pictured below), your new fave style crush. Her outfits are a lust-worthy mix of luxe and free-spirited casual.

Lovers in Vain combines inspiration shots with homegrown talent, her pick of new Australian designers is fab.

Reena from Fashion Daydreams is back with the second installment of her BNTM Live report…

So, what goes on behind the scenes at a fashion show? It’s all very hectic! Models and stylists were under strict instructions to be backstage at least an hour and a half before the show begins. Each team is responsible for their own models, which basically means guiding them through from hair and make up to dressing and accessorising.

After having a brief chat with hair and make up about the look I’m after – loose messy bun with a natural base, defined but low key eyes and pink lips – I start laying out the outfits and generally running around making sure everything’s perfect. On Friday, things were very tense as it was the first day but by Sunday the models and stylists were all pros, so the atmosphere was very lighthearted and fun. There was lots of giggling and dancing backstage!

As well as styling the show, we had to go on stage to talk through our geek chic looks before our models came out which was very nerve wracking! We were all a bit jittery through rehearsals and on the first day but after our initial nerves wore off we had lots of fun on stage. The presenter of the show was Emma Willis who presents Britain’s Next Top Model and she is so lovely, she really helped put us at ease. She really loved the camels and burgundy colours in my outfit, especially the shoes which were from New Look.

I know brogues and flat loafers are almost essential for the geek chic look thanks to the likes of Alexa Chung but I wanted to give my outfit a feminine and grown up twist. The platform and chunky heel are really on trend for Autumn/Winter too.

There are so many great pieces in New Look which are perfect for achieving the geek chic look from fairisle and cable knits to pussy bow blouses and camel skirts. Here are my top picks for a grown up take on the look.

From left: Camel skirt: £21.99. Flocked pussy bow blouse: £32.99. Loafer heel: £22.99. Bobble shoulder jumper: £22.99.

The lovely Reena from Fashion Daydreams kindly agreed to give us her behind the scenes look from BNTM Live, where she was styling her very own set of models for the catwalk. Read on to find out what happened…

What a hectic weekend! I’ve had a couple of weeks to get my head around being asked to style a fashion show at the BNTM live event with five other bloggers, but nothing could prepare me for the madness I’ve experienced over the last couple of days. Event sponsor Motorola asked Frankie, Natasha, Jenny, Alize, Matthew and I to style a geek chic fashion show to promote their Flip Out phone and show that it’s ‘hip to be square’.

The models give their best geek chic pose

The show had three themes: vintage, high end and high street. As one half of the high-street dream team, I scoured the high-street for the very best geek chic pieces. I wanted to take key trends for Autumn/Winter such as camel, texture and fairisle knits and give them a geek chic edge. I was inspired by Alexa Chung, Glee, Ugly Betty and Luella’s 2008 show which was inspired by Ghostworld (a NL HQ fave! -Ed).

Stay tuned for part two of Reena’s guest post for us tomorrow!

We’re always on the hunt for new blogs and this time we’re looking towards our Irish cousins who are a pretty stylish bunch! We’ve picked some of our favourite bloggers from Ireland, if you think we’ve missed any of your favourites do leave a comment and let us know.

Budding stylist Becky Dazzler gives us the inside info on her passion, with tons of ideas and great product picks. The talents don’t end there as she’s also a dab hand on the sewing machine knocking up a fair few stellar creations.

One for the guys, Male Mode doesn’t mince his words, and his reflections on menswear are witty and humourous without the snark. A great eye for men’s fashion this is a must-read for any stylish man (or woman!)

We love Blanaid’s amazing eye, whether it’s fashion shoots, hot outfits or gorgeous interiors this is one gal with taste! Her hot charity shop finds and down-to-earth musings keep us coming back for more.

Ripped Knees is a committed outfit poster, chronicling her daily looks. It’s an addictive read and is great for wardrobe ideas, as well as her girl-about-town antics.

Film buff She’s In Vogue takes inspiration from Mia Farrow flicks and vintage Bob Dylan photos, she also posts photoshoots and showcases her own whimsical style in outfit posts.

Whisty Blogs Dublin Fashion is a top notch blogger from the capital. A mix of designer and personal style plus she’s a New Look fan to boot!

Are you an Irish fashion fan? New Look is offering 20% off to all ROI customers from Friday 16th July, just check out our Facebook page for more info! xx

Well it was a busy week for us at New Look HQ as we opened our doors to press and bloggers for our Autumn Winter Press Day. It might seem a bit odd to be looking at winter clothes in May, but the stylists and fashion editors are already planning their photoshoots and magazine editorials.

Some of our favourite bloggers turned up as well as some new faces, see after the jump for a list of all our coverage so far, and if you attended don’t forget to leave a comment and let us know! Kate Wilson, better known as Little Doodles came along and charmed the pants off us, and was the first person to be interviewed in our videobooth (more on this soon!) She also kindly sent us some of her illustrations from the press day, we feel so honoured! For more of her fab illustrations check out her website.

It might not yet be cake time but we just had to share this slice of fashion with with you all. How amazing is this Proenza Schouler Dolly Cake? The dip-dyed ombré hair is the perfect on-trend finishing touch!

We have never wanted to eat a dress so much before… If the outfit looks familiar it’s because Kirsten Stewart first sported it the the New Moon premiere way back in November. Perhaps this will start a trend for red-carpet cakes? We’d love to see Bjork’s infamous swan dress immortalised in a cake!

Here at New Look Towers our need for instant trend information is constant. If there’s a new look (excuse the pun), we need to know about it, and quick.

We have been big fans of Twitter for a while now. We love the instant and spontaneous way it keeps us in touch with what’s going on and allows us to share our thoughts with our followers.
During London Fashion week, we felt like we were sitting right on the front row, as we followed our favourite fashion bloggers minute by minute tweets of the latest events.

You may already be Twittering, or perhaps you can’t get your head around it and don’t quite see the point. We thought we would share a few of our favourite Tweeters with you to get you started, and before you know it, you’ll be as addicted as us! As if we needed anything else to check all the time!!

Sophynails, IsabelleOCLookmagazine, WAHnails, Fashedatlarge, Goddessguide, MisterMort, WhatKatiewore, Bargainistafash,  Fashionair,  Cocosteaparty,  Disneyrollergirl, Fredbutlerstyle, Fabsugar, Grazielive, Susiebubble and of course you have to follow us at  NewLookFashion

Style Savage

We love blogs and have a rolling list of favourites that we check almost every day. Recently we have also been checking out a few great fashion and style blogs aimed at men and thought we would share a few of our favourites.

Stylesavage is written by two friends, Stev and EJ and started back in June 2007. Focusing on all aspects of how men’s should dress, catwalks shows, new brands and menswear shops, the blog also includes interviews with designers, journalists and shop owners, as well as the occasional D.I.Y style shoot.
