Our Trend Scout Susie had us green with jealousy when she headed off to LA for some January sun. Check out the gorgeous pics from her trip, just the thing to brighten up our dreary Wednesday!

PR girl Virginia gives us her rundown of the Fabulous Awards, where we won Best High Street Retailer of the Year, and Best Designer Collaboration for Gold by Giles. Ahh the glamourous life of a PR…

As the anti-PR girl member of the team, these awards nights are always a struggle for me, I love the events but it’s a battle to unleash my inner glam-girl. The rest of the team come together to pull off my Converse and get the straighteners out and before we know it we’re ready to go. Tip: Always go with platforms since they appear higher than they actually are! We stopoff at our Oxford Street store to pick up some Girls Aloud eyelashes and add the finishing touches to our outfits in the press office.

To celebrate the opening of our largest ever store in Dublin’s Jervis Centre tomorrow, we asked some of our favourite residents of the Emerald Isle to give us their insider tips for Dublin city:

Corina Gaffey Fashion Editor at Stellar Magazine

-ALT at Andrews Lane Theatre is a great club – amazing music, cheap drink and huge dancefloor! What more could you ask for?
-Cake Cafe is tucked away behind a stationary store on Camden St, this cute cafe has cosy outdoor seating with blankets to keep you toasty. Indulge with some amazing sandwiches, salads and of course cake!! For a bigger feed head to La Maison and order the T bone Steak for two – you won’t be disappointed!!
-The Guinness Store House Gravity Bar (pictured below) may be a touristy thing to do, but if even if you don’t like a pint of the black stuff – the views of Dublin are pretty incredible!
-Go for a wander at the flea and vintage furniture markets at New Market Square, Dublin 8. After all the rummaging fill up on homemade waffles, relax and enjoy some live music all under one roof.

Vicki, our Product Marketing Manager, took us on a behind-the-scenes tour of our latest series of TV adverts, scheduled to show over this Autumn/Winter. Our boots collection advert debuted today, watch it below & read on for the lowdown behind the scenes...

The date for the shoot kept changing because of the Pope’s visit to the UK, it seemed like he was shadowing our journey up to Scotland which was a bit spooky. On the recce to scope out the location it was pouring with rain, which in shoot terms is as bad as it can get! Soaking wet models and misted-up cameras aren’t the best start to a shoot so we had to try and brainstorm some alternatives and see how we could work round it.

Our first two TV ads we did on George Street in Edinburgh, there were two different locations a really cool bar and hotel for that party atmosphere. All the extras you’ll see in the advert are store staff from around the Edinburgh area, which worked really well, they looked so glam and gorgeous. At 9pm the shoot finished and we rushed off towards Glasgow and got to our hotel at midnight, with a 6am start the next day; who ever said that photoshoots were glamourous?! One of the upsides was that we were staying near Loch Fyne which is absolutely beautiful as you can see from the pictures.

With a resurgence in cycling and the London cycling scheme well under way, even more Londoners are swapping their bus passes for bikes in an attempt to keep fit and do something good for the environment at the same time.

This doesn’t mean you have to swap your leopard print for Lycra! Whilst cycling around the city I’ve noticed how many ladies can get from A to B without looking like they have beaten Lance Armstrong in the mountain stage.

Yes ladies, it can be done! Keeping your sense of style whilst staying safe on the roads isn’t impossible, and these fit fashionistas are living proof, along with some top tips to help you do the same…

Amandine, 27, above right, looks effortlessly stylish & classy; she definitely knows how to step it up a gear. If you are going to wear heels on your bike then make sure you go for wedges to stop your heel from getting caught in the pedal. Marta, 20. left, looking perfectly accessorized, she makes sure she always leaves the house with some protective headgear, ready for the journey ahead.

Charlie, 24, shows us that if you’re worried about losing your bike keys then fear no more; take your favourite necklace and work them into your look. Lola, 26. With animal prints and checks all over the catwalks this season, who says your outfit shouldn’t match your bike?

Below, Adriana, 28 layering is such a big look and Adriana has made sure she is well prepared with a change of tops and favourite chunky knit in her bag, ready for whatever little surprises the British weather may have in store. Louise, 21 is stopping traffic in her tassled leather jacket and trapper hat must-haves. You’ve got to make sure you can be easily seen on the road but there’s no harm in getting some attention for all the right reasons whilst you’re at it.

Trend Scout Susie has been scoping out fashion trends in Sweden: Last weekend we went style hunting at the Way Out West festival in Gothenburg, which is one of Sweden’s largest music festivals. Taking place in a beautiful park in the centre of the city (which meant no tents, it was hotel beds and showers for us thankfully!) the 2 day event is a must for fashion and music fans, as it features a stellar line-up and is chock full of stylish Scandinavians. Our kind of place!

We managed to cram in seeing some of our favourite bands including Beach House, The XX, Mumford & Sons, The Drums, LCD Soundsystem (who were awesome!) and Lykke Li (girl crush alert!) around snapping some of the coolest looking beautiful people (everyone in Sweden is beautiful, it’s not a myth) we’ve ever seen.

The Swedish girls were loving the sheer look, layering up transparent shirts, dresses and tops. Also the midi skirt is definitely gaining pace. Animal prints were everywhere, in grey leopard mainly, while we were loving the 70s blue denim pieces, perfect for SS 11! And then, as if all that gorgeousness wasn’t enough to contend with, we spotted Kate Bosworth and Kirsten Dunst – double girl crush!

Assistant Trend Designer Hayley gives us the lowdown from Vintage at Goodwood:
Last weekend saw the first ever music and fashion combined festival called Vintage at Goodwood. It was massively popular and had all sorts of interesting people there. People came dressed to impress from all eras. It was done so well, the atmosphere was amazing and there were loads to do for the families.

Music and fashion come hand in hand so once you finished the vintage shops people moved on to the stages, which really came into its own in the evening. Here are some photos or my favourite looks from the weekend.

Hayley also let us in on some of the trends she picked up, pay attention as we’ll all be wearing them in a few months!

Throw on cover ups (longer line) are really bubbling under, think stylish silk dressing gowns and you’re there! 50’s style scenic printed skirts and dresses are also making a comeback, this ties in with the retro mood in the air at the moment.

The 70’s sleeved maxi is how we’ll be doing longer lengths this winter, as well as the new slimline midi length skirts and dresses, expect them to be blowing up inn a few months time! Baseball and varsity jackets are a more casual way to do retro, team with cute skirts and saddle shoes for an all-American look.

Luckily for us we haven’t been chained to our desks all summer, we’ve had the chance to get out and about at Glastonbury, Clothes Show and Wireless over the last few months. Of course even when we’re out having fun we’ve still got one eye on fashion, so it’s no surprise we papped some stylish New Look fans!

Scroll down to take a look at all the fab pieces we spotted on her travels, and find out how to buy the looks.

attitude 1Clockwise from left: The Attitude photobooth, the press team, Ursula and Gok Wan, Grace and Ben de Lisi.

Last week the New Look Press Team donned their finest and primped and preened for the party of the year. Attitude Magazine was celebrating their 16th birthday and we were there to capture all the goss.

Competition winner Ursula turned up in a gorgeous New Look dress (hey, the girl’s got taste!) accompanied by equally stunning friend Grace. She gave us her rundown of the night:

It was such a fun and fabulous experience, my best friend and I had a wicked time!  We mingled with so many celebs and chatted and took photos with them, most of them were lovely and had time for us.  My highlight was meeting Gok Wan, he was so nice and said he loved my New Look dress! My best friend Grace who is a fashion student at London College of Fashion was beside herself to meet some of the biggest fashion designers, Matthew Williamson and Ben de Lisi (omg!) and Paloma Faith who was really nice.

For more pictures take a look at our Facebook page, and remeber to keep an eye out for our exciting competitions, it could be you next time!

sartorialist bicycle

Spring is here and we want to get out and get on our bikes, the idea of cycling to work on a sunny day sounds fantastic. It may or may not have something to do with shifting all that winter comfort food, but cycling has become a chic pursuit. The Sartorialist is well-known for his cycle love, documenting stylish riders the world around.

We’re still relying on hand-me-down pushbikes but if you really want to do cycling in style then you treat yourself to a bike from Bobbin, our favourite bicycle shop. Not only do they know their stuff but they do it with panache, and we love the little descriptions that accompany their products: ‘If this bike were food, it would be gelato in a sugar cone.

pashley metropole bicycle

The classic Pashley in pink is a must for all cycle princesses, or why not go for bright yellow, this season’s on-trend colour? It will look great with summer’s sandy neutrals to make sure you cycle in style!
