We have loved of Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf ‘s work for a while now, and were delighted to find that our very own Giles Deacon is also a fan. He was so inspired by his work that he based his Autumn/Winter 2011 collection on it.
We’ll bring you a full report on our day at the Giles show this afternoon, but in the meantime take a look at Erwin Olafs work to get you in the mood.
Gisele Scanlon is a writer and illustrator who says she wrote her second book, The Goddess Experience to ‘make people happy’. She lists, nice bed linen, tea, mascara and fragrance as the things that make her happy, and asks readers to ask themselves, ‘what’s my favourite micro pleasure’?
The book is filled with up lifting ideas and over 1000 micro pleasures, based around fashion, beauty, travel, food and home ideas. Gisele encourages you to try and find the small everyday things that bring joy to your life.
Apparently Beyonce’s favourite micro pleasure is the small of Dove soap and she insists on having two bars of Dove soap backstage at every concert.
Our favourite small pleasures include; a nice cup of tea, finding a bargain at a car boot sale, making cupcakes and riding out bikes to work.
What makes you happy?

The next best thing to having the world at your feet is to have a dog at your heels,’ observed Vogue in 1930. We couldn’t agree more and will definitely be putting Dogs in Vogue on our Christmas list, as well as one of the super cute new cross breeds that we have been cooing over recently.
We so want a Morkie/Yorktese (a cross between a Yokshire terrier or a Maltese) or a Puggle (Pugg and Beagle cross). It would look so cute with its head popping out of our bag, a la Elle Woods!!!

We found this old magazine cutting at the bottom of a drawer the other day and just loved it. It shows the original Marc Jacobs grunge collection for Perry Ellis. The 1992 collection took the fashion world by storm when Jacobs sent flannel shirts over printed dresses and Dr Martin boots, down the runway. Inspired by Seattle bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam, the collection perfectly summed up the mood of the 90′s and was adopted as the uniform of a generation.
Musician and photographer Thurston Moore (and member of grunge band, Sonic Youth) was a close friend of Kurt Cobain and has documented the bands, the fans and the rise and fall of the subculture that dominated the early 90′s, in his recently published book Grunge.
Great inspiration if like us, you are loving the grunge look right now. Defiantly one to put on the Christmas list.
If you fancy impressing your friends with your culinary skills and knowledge of fashionable food? Then look no further than this book.
The American Fashion Cookbook features recipes from more than 100 of our favourite American designers along with original illustrations and preparation tips.
