Put a ring on it

New Look Trend Scout Susie Draffan tips us off on the big trends coming our way….

Right now my friends and I are obsessed with two things. Getting ‘Hair of Dreams’ aka Olivia Palermo’s perfect New York waves and covering our hands with a multitude of rings, so we can barely move our fingers. After years of shunning jewellery trends suddenly I want to dig out all my old rings from my teenage years and wear them all at once.

At Chanel’s A/W show Karl Lagerfeld sent the models out with hands covered in giant crystal and natural stone rings, while jewellery designers like Pamela Love ( http://www.pamelalovenyc.com/) specialize in beautiful gothic tinged silverware. At the Field Day festival in London last weekend girls were rocking the trend, sporting crystal rings the size of gobstoppers and filigree silver rings on every finger. It’s easy enough to do, check out the high street for multiple ring packs or get yourself down to Camden market (or your local equivalent) for some authentic silver pieces. Alternatively raid your childhood jewellery box for rings you wore the first time round like me. Just remember, stack them high! In this case, more is definitely more.

I’ve never been able to wear rings – they feel too irritating and I’m too clumsy with them on – but this is making me really want some! This look is Mary-Kate.
