We found this old magazine cutting at the bottom of a drawer the other day and just loved it. It shows the original Marc Jacobs grunge collection for Perry Ellis. The 1992 collection took the fashion world by storm when Jacobs sent flannel shirts over printed dresses and Dr Martin boots, down the runway. Inspired by Seattle bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam, the collection perfectly summed up the mood of the 90′s and was adopted as the uniform of a generation.
Musician and photographer Thurston Moore (and member of grunge band, Sonic Youth) was a close friend of Kurt Cobain and has documented the bands, the fans and the rise and fall of the subculture that dominated the early 90′s, in his recently published book Grunge.
Great inspiration if like us, you are loving the grunge look right now. Defiantly one to put on the Christmas list.
